The Ophthalmology Service at Hospitales San Roque in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has earned a great reputation over the past 20 years, during which time we've become increasingly professional and incorporated the state-of-the-art technology in the specialty.

It is worth pointing out that we were pioneers in introducing ultrasound technology in the Canary Islands for use in operating cataracts using only small incisions and topical anaesthesia.

We recently became pioneers once again by incorporating the LENSx Femtosecond laser system, which offers greater security and accuracy in this intervention.  We were also pioneers in the 90's when we incorporated the LASIK technique to correct refractive errors with the Excimer laser.  By combining the Femtosecond with the Excimer INTRALASE, and thanks to the FEMTOLASIK technique, we are able to obtain better results in correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.  FEMTOLASIK XTRA is the most recent modern technique used to strengthen the cornea in certain more complex cases.  These techniques are characterized by their safety and accuracy.

As for Cosmetic Eye Surgery, our is the only service available in the Canary Islands, and we have an ActiveFX CO2 laser for cosmetic surgical treatments to correct drooping eyelids due to excess skin, eliminate prominent bags from the lower eyelids, and reduce the appearance of fine lines or spots around the eye area through RESURFACING.

Our specialists offer a comprehensive service and are fully prepared to cope with any clinical or surgical eye pathology, including:
