Hospitales Universitarios San Roque in Maspalomas

Hospitales Universitarios San Roque in Maspalomas is located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, one of the main tourist areas in the Canary Islands.

It was built in 2006 after the public tender called by the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana was awarded to HSR for the construction and operation of the facilities as an administrative concession.

The hospital was created with the aim of meeting the needs of the population in the south of Gran Canaria, who before then had to go to the capital city to receive specialised medical attention, and also of meeting the growing demand of the leisure and health tourism. And thus it became a renowned health centre in the south of Gran Canaria, reaching the specialisation and technological levels of the best hospitals in the European Area.

Furthermore, thanks to the public tender award granted by the regional Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands for the provision of specialised healthcare services for patients located in the south of the island, it became a reference public centre for the Spanish population, for the local foreign community and for visitors.

It has been accredited by the regional Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands as a general hospital and it has also been authorised to provide medium-term stays and surgical procedures with hospital admission. Currently, this hospital has 147 beds, 5 surgical theatres, 17 emergency room bays and 8 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds. The total built area of Hospitales San Roque in Maspalomas is 24,000 m².

It deals with 7,000 hospital admissions per year, 44,500 hospital stays, 5,000 surgical interventions, 44,000 emergencies, 58,000 consultations and 131,000 diagnostic tests.
