Anesthesiology and Critical Care is a medical specialty whose objective is the study, teaching, research and clinical application of:

a) Applying methods and techniques for numbing and protecting patients from pain and harm during and after an operation, obstetric intervention, diagnostic examination or trauma.
b) Maintaining vital functions in any of the above conditions and in organ donor patients.
c) Treating patients whose vital functions are gravely compromised, applying therapeutic measures until the life-threatening situation is overcome.
d) Treating acute and chronic pain due to any cause.
e) Performing resuscitation at accident scenes and evacuating accident victims or patients in critical condition.
Anesthesiology and Critical Care carries out its activities both inside and outside the hospital.
