General and Digestive Surgery, specifically, is the specialty that focuses mainly on gastrointestinal pathologies (gastrointestinal tract, liver, gallbladder), as well as the mammary gland, the endocrine glands, thyroids (or parathyroids), skin, soft tissue, repairing hernias or eventrations of the abdominal wall.

At Hospitales Universitarios San Roque in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria performs Laparscopic Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery and Major Outpatient Surgery procedures (obesity, colon cancer, liver surgery, gastric cancer, adrenal, spleen, hiatial and inguinal hernia, cholecystectomy and appendectomy). We also perform conservative breast cancer surgery, including procedures such as sentinel node dissection.
Our Surgery Unit also carries out the important work of teaching both undergraduates and graduates, thanks to our collaboration with the School of Medicine at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPG).
